An old-fashioned and traditionalist album this output by the Norwegian Gorelord, a really proud band to offer his fans a mix of sound extremism in the name of the old good death metal. Right from their name it's possible to understand what
is the conceptual nature of this one-man band, that is the sound interpretation of the visual horrors of the splatter-gore cinematography through means of an european smelling death metal: slow chocking rhythms, raw mincing guitars, a nervous rhythmical walking, all linked by the inarticulated gargling of the leader Frediablo, single writer of music and lyrics as well as main performer of them (but for drumming). Another important reference point is the american Necrophagia,
whose singer and leader Killjoy appears in "Force Fed on Human Flesh" as producer and guest vocalist (together with Mani
ac of Mayhem) and lyric-writer of "Hell's Kitchen". In fact it's easy to notice the attitudinal affinity between Necrophagia and Gorelord, to the point that Killjoy himself wanted Frediablo as second axe-man of his band. Anyway despite the
excellent premises this CD is not faultless for sure: as well as a not original or innovative sound (even if out of fash
ion in recent times) Gorelord do not succeed to diversify their offer resulting a bit boring and repetitive during a continuous listening. The proper attitude and conviction to realize a good album of the genre are there, what they miss is the ability not to get stranded onto the songwriting poorness that the respect of certain clichès can cause.
